Whitney R. Sims is an author, educator, entrepreneur and YouTube content creator. Her favorite titles, however, are wife to Kendrick and mom to Kairo. Whitney has a bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies from Warner University, with a certification in Early Childhood Education. She began her journey in the education field in 2008 as a substitute teacher before becoming a classroom teacher in 2012. Over the past 10 years she has taught both Kindergarten and 1st grade at Eastside Elementary, Davenport School of the Arts and Astravo Online Academy. In 2020, Whitney launched her business, Kairo’s Korner, named after her son. Kairo’s Korner is a learning resource business, for early childhood learners, providing resources ranging from workbooks to coloring books (currently available on Amazon). She also launched her Sit With Whit Storytime YouTube channel in 2020, took a hiatus to rebrand, and relaunched February of 2022. Present day, Whitney continues to use her gift of teaching and experience in early childhood education to support teachers in the classroom as well as assist business owners looking to launch their preschools, readiness programs or build solid and effective curriculum to ensure student success in the classroom and beyond. She also uses her experiences in writing to host events centered around authors and promoting early literacy. Education has and always will be her passion and she is an avid advocate for both literacy and all things learning.
